What’s Your Favourite Childhood Memory?
I don’t actually know. I think I have so many. There are sad ones, happy ones, funny ones and other ones.
There’s the one I recounted to my Mum a few weeks ago. My 18 year old cousin sat her last A Level exam a few weeks ago. My Mum commented about how it made her feel old – and then asked did it make me feel old. Well yes, yes it did make me feel old that my 18 year old cousin has finished school and goes to University at the end of this year. I remember holding her when she was like a day old or something like that. I remember that we went to the hospital pretty much straight after school and so I was in my bright red lower school sweater and grey skirt – it was winter and trousers weren’t allowed (or at least I don’t think they were I don’t remember!!). This little baby who had been a bump last time I’d seen her was placed in my arms, I sat incredibly still as I thought I might break her. She was my cousin and I was dead excited about all the things I’d get to teach her.
So that was like a happy memory, a sad memory would be when I tried to knock myself out on holiday. Growing up we travelled around the UK. I don’t think I had a passport until I was about 13/14 but I didn’t mind that looking back. We went to Wales, Lincolnshire, Norfolk etc. This particular year we’d gone to Kent and were working our way round the castles and forts along the coastline. At one particular castle me and Rich had been messing about chasing each other round a cannon. I ducked under the cannon to try and catch him except I’d misjudged how fair I’d ducked under it and crashed my head into the cannon as I stood up. Oh my life it hurt. I don’t remember much else apart from a wapping great headache for the rest of the day.
Btw, Happy Independence Day to all my American friends – hope you have an amazing day – let me know what you’re up to. I’d love to hear about it.
If you commented earlier this week and have found that your comment hasn’t appeared on the post that could be my fault – I was clearing out my spam folder and managed to delete two genuine comments although they should have been safe and not deleted. (I blame a combination of my brain not being in gear and the stupid computer).
